Bio

Lydi, the creative behind the name St. Samuel, is a first gen Ethiopian and Eritrean American. Lydi is a self taught, multidisciplinary creator. She is currently based in D.C. Her journey as an artist started in 2012 during her time spent in Seattle where she had become fascinated by the images, symbols, characters and storylines of the dream worlds she found herself exploring. She began expressing the energy of the life force through playing music, painting and writing. Eventually she found herself committing to the brush. Lydi is inspired by the states of existence one can experience here on earth, by the essence of a person; their soul and understanding the space and beauty in which the creators came from when they created us.

Lydi's paintings have strong elements of empowered feminine energy, esotericism , unity consciousness and beauty. Colorful, lively and versatile in style; Lydi pulls from different periods of her life for inspiration incorporating a vast array of mediums and art forms to express the collective experiences of our time.

Artist Statement

When it comes to the mission or goal of my creative expression, I’d like to continue to learn

the unspoken language of the Life Force and to strengthen my connections with it. Also, to continue to explore life; to share and document the

collective wisdom and experiences of the times we are living in. I guess to pick up where other mystic

painters who have preceded me left off, ascending, awakening, and sharing from the inner

and outer worlds I have access to – hopefully bringing more light into the world and

inspiring others to do the same.
